Douro Azul resumes cruises on the Douro River on July 20

Douro Azul has worked, in the last months, to guarantee the certification of all its vessels with the 'Clean & Safe' seal, attributed by Turismo de Portugal.

Douro Azul, the European river cruise company, whose CEO is Mário Ferreira, announced that it will continue to resume its activity on the Douro River, starting next July 20.

The return of the cruise after the lockdown economic activity marks the return to tourism. The resumption of cruises in the Douro by Douro Azul will have “an unprecedented and exclusive program of four cruises, aimed at the Portuguese market, on board one of its most modern hotel ships, the Douro Serenity whose godmother is Sara Sampaio”, reads in the statement.

The Douro Serenity is one of the most recent hotel ships, opened in 2017 by the Portuguese model, and has eight suites, 53 double cabins, a gym, spa and swimming pool.

“Created according to the proximity market and thinking about reinforcing the motto 'make holidays here', this summer Douro Azul launches a cruise program on a hotel ship lasting 5 days / 4 nights to show that there are a whole world in the Douro to visit, in addition to the iconic beauty of the terraces and vineyards that distinguish the region ”, explains the company of the businessman who will be a shareholder in TVI.

The program that marks the return of Douro Azul to the activity “aims to offer the Portuguese the possibility of a cruise in the Douro on board one of the most modern hotel ships of the company that has worked hard, in recent months, to guarantee the certification of all its vessels with the 'Clean & Safe' seal, awarded by Turismo de Portugal ”. This certification ensures that the hygiene, safety and cleaning measures as well as those for the prevention and control of Covid-19 comply with all required standards.

“It is the opportunity for the Portuguese to enjoy unique landscapes, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, views of the river and also to visit places of extraordinary beauty, with cultural, entertainment and tasting programs in various locations bordering the Douro River” , the statement said.
