The National Federation of Doctors (FNAM) criticized this Tuesday the Ministry of Health for lack of investment in the National Health Service (SNS) and regarding doctors, this Federation defends that the balance has been negative since the beginning of the pandemic. FNAM took a position with the President of the Republic at a meeting in Belém under the hearings that Marcelo has dedicated to fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It is absolutely necessary to create conditions in the NHS to maintain and attract more doctors. This has been irresponsibly ignored and the balance of doctors in the SNS has been negative since the beginning of the pandemic ”, criticized FNAM in a statement after the meeting with Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa at the Palace of Belém.
At this meeting, FNAM reiterated to the President of the Republic "his concern about the lack of investment in the NHS - both in a chronic way and in the context of the current pandemic - with the serious predictable consequences".
The Federation states that “it continues to assume itself as a responsible interlocutor, fully available for collaboration at this difficult time. However, it will not abdicate from claiming all the measures it deems necessary for the valorization of medical work and strengthening of the NHS ”.
