The chairman of the Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Gabriela Figueiredo Dias, was reappointed for the second term as chairman of the Committee on Asset Management (Investment Management Standing Committee) by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), according to the CMVM this Thursday, 24 September.

The appointment was made by the Board of Supervisors (Board of Supervisors) of ESMA, in Paris, France, with the mandate starting from 1 October 2020. The first appointment to lead this committee had happened last year.

O Comité sobre Gestão de Ativos aborda questões relacionadas com a gestão de investimento coletivo, cobrindo a atividade dos fundos de investimento, tendo como principal função a elaboração de normas técnicas de execução e de regulamentação relativas às Diretivas (nomeadamente, a UCITS – Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities e AIFMD – Alternative Investments Fund Managers Directive) and Community regulations concerning the investment fund industry, among other matters.

ESMA currently has ten Standing Committees (Standing Commitees), made up of experts from the National Competent Authorities of the Member States of the European Union. These working groups are responsible for the development of policies in their respective areas of activity.

In 2018, Gabriela Figueiredo Dias was individually elected to the Management Council (Management Board), which is the six-member body that ensures the executive management of ESMA, which it still integrates.
