MODTISSIMO brings together Portuguese textiles under the sign of trust and optimism

With a date set for the next 23 and 24 of September, MODTISSIMO promises to bring together in Alfândega do Porto the cream of the Portuguese textile and clothing industry, attracting professional buyers from various foreign markets. After months of contingency, the event has more than 100 exhibitors, seeking to speed up the recovery.

 

“Linked” is the theme of this 56th edition of MODTISSIMO, the largest Portuguese textile salon and the oldest in the entire Iberian peninsula, which aims to reinforce market connections, highlighting the mainstays of Portuguese industry: innovation, responsibility and sustainability.

It is one of the most anticipated moments by the Portuguese textile community and this year it will take on a particularly important shape. THE MODTISSIMO, opens the doors of its 56th edition on the 23rd and 24th of September, with more than 100 companies exhibiting their products in the halls of Alfândega do Porto.

“We want to contribute to an increase in the business recovery and it is a way for the industry to start recovering. There will be fewer fairs in the rest of the world and we are convinced that a fair at this time may even be of special interest, ”he says. Manuel Serrão, CEO of Associação Selectiva Moda, responsible for organizing the event.

With the capacity of the space and the safety rules to be defined by the health authorities, the various registered exhibitors have expectations of finding in MODTISSIMO reinforced signs of the recovery of the markets. To this end, companies in the various sectors of the event - raw materials, fabrics, knits, clothing and services - will present their latest news, with a special emphasis on sustainable solutions, which have increased exponentially in Portuguese industry.

Among the exhibitors, the atmosphere is one of confidence, marked by a strong desire to return to face-to-face contacts. “MODTISSIMO is always very positive for us. We reinforce contact with national partners with whom we already work, we always establish new contacts and we have seen a considerable increase in the number of foreign buyers from year to year ”, reports Carla Araújo, responsible for the commercial and marketing departments at JOAPS, one of the companies already written.

Envicorte also looks at MODTISSIMO with increased optimism. "We have been doing this fair for many years and I have no doubt that it was the best bet we have ever made", says António Carneiro, manager of the Paços de Ferreira company, which is preparing to present a new collection of pleats at Alfândega do Porto and social masks. For the businessman, the 56th edition of MODTISSIMO may even benefit from the fact that it is a small fair when compared to other international competitions.

“We are going to participate in MODTISSIMO because we believe that the national market must continue to work and be strong. We must bet on what is ours more than ever ”, defends Tânia Guimarães, responsible for the export of the yarn area of ​​JF Almeida, another of the companies with stand In the event.

“We hope that September will be a revival of the sector, an awakening” says Carolina Guimarães, manager of João Pereira Guimarães, another of the companies present. “Sales are important, of course. But the business is not just about orders. It is important that the team feels motivated, that contacts are established, that we can know the reactions of customers to our articles. MODTISSIMO is that breath of fresh air that we all need ”, defends the head of the company.

In relation to the new rules for holding events so that all security conditions are guaranteed MODTISSIMO has already clarified that its approved Contingency Plan fully respects the legislation in force, namely, the conditions and limits duly clarified by the last Interpretative Order published by the responsible ministry.

Modtissimo Portugal takes place twice a year: in February, at Porto Airport, and in September, at Alfândega do Porto. It is an event that brings together the entire Portuguese textile industry, from yarn producers to clothing manufacturers, serving as a showcase for one of the largest clusters textiles from all over Europe. Thousands of visitors usually pass through its corridors, especially international buyers, who, in addition to all the commercial offer, also have the opportunity to visit the beautiful city of Porto.
