The Government classified this Wednesday the approval of the State Budget for 2021 (OE2021), in general, as “a very important step for the country to have a good budget” for the next year. The Prime Minister, António Costa, reiterated that this is a budget that bets on the National Health Service (SNS) and on social protection and was available to welcome proposals from the parties in the specialty.
“Today, a very important step has been taken for the country to be able to have a good budget for 2021, which will allow it to respond to the crisis, strengthening the NHS, and which will allow everyone to be protected without leaving anyone behind and strongly supporting economic recovery and job maintenance ”, Affirmed António Costa, a brief statement at the end of the debate in Parliament, where 'green light' to the budget proposal presented by the Government, in general.
The leader of the Socialist Executive guaranteed "openness" to accept, in the discussion in the specialty area, "the proposals that are reasonable, possible and that allow to overcome limitations and insufficiencies that the parties" can highlight. “Now it is the work of the Assembly. We will work with everyone ”, he added.
The OE2021 proposal was approved in the Assembly of the Republic, with the PS's favorable votes and the PCP, PAN, PEV and the two non-registered deputies abstaining. No surprises compared to what had already been pre-announced, OE2021 received the votes against PSD, CDS-PP, Chega and Liberal Initiative, as well as the Left Bloc.
OE2021 was thus made generally viable with 108 votes in favor of the PS and 105 against the parties on the right and BE. The diploma now goes on to discuss the specialty, where article by article will be analyzed and where parties with parliamentary seats will try to include proposals in the final document.
