The PCP's secretary general today attacked the “scandal of transferring thousands of euros” of personnel costs to Social Security from “companies with millionaire profits” and criticized the purchase of the TVI group as an example.
In a hearing with union members at the headquarters of the Centro Vitória do PCP, in Lisbon, Jerónimo de Sousa defended the use of public funds, for example, to ensure that those who were “lay off” due to the covid-19 pandemic receive their full salary .
And he criticized “the scandal of the transfer of thousands of euros to companies with millionaire profits, which, at the first opportunity, they used to transfer to workers and Social Security a good part of their costs.
They are companies, “many of them multinationals, which benefit from millions of euros of public support for projects, which fill their mouths with the talk of social responsibility, but which, now, in the first curve, they forgot, he said.
“Look at the case of an economic group that put 500 workers into 'lay-off', but who, after a few days, announced the purchase of 30% of a large media company. There is money, as you can see, ”said Jerónimo without referring directly to the company Douro Azul, by Mário Ferreira, to the Media Capital group, which owns TVI.
