Portugal registers 552 more cases and 13 deaths by Covid-19

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has registered 68.577 confirmed cases of the disease caused by the new coronavirus, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health.

Portugal has registered, since the beginning of the pandemic, 68.577 confirmed cases of Covid-19, with an additional 552 people infected in the last 24 hours, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), released this Sunday. The number of fatalities from the new coronavirus in the country increased to 1.912, corresponding to 13 more deaths than yesterday, according to official information from the national health authority.

The report now accounts for 45.596 people recovered from this disease, 192 more than the previous day. Of the 511 inpatients (plus 14), 63 (minus one) are in intensive care units (ICU). There are still 39.362 surveillance contacts to be recorded (minus 26) and 21.069 active cases of contagion, which represents a daily rise of 347.

The virus continues to infect more women, since the DGS reports a total of 37.592 confirmed cases in female patients, against 30.985 males. In relation to deaths, more victims are men: 963, against 949 who are women. Over a thousand of the fatal victims (1.275) are aged over 80 years.

Today, the North region recorded the highest number of daily cases (871), as well as three deaths, but the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region was the one with the highest number of deaths (ten). The autonomous regions reported three more cases of the disease, two in the Azores and one in Madeira.
