The President of the Republic confirmed this Thursday that he will honor CGTP-IN with the title of honorary member of the Order of Infante D. Henrique, within the scope of the 50th anniversary of the inter-union. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa congratulated the entity for its 50 years and expressed wishes of happiness for the “health, economic and social challenges” that everyone faces today.

The head of state considers that CGTP-IN has relevance in the Portuguese constitutional framework and has sought to "give voice to increasingly seductive frustrations, anxieties and disappointments for new movements of inorganic contestation, inserting them in the constitutional framework that governs us".

"A life started with half a decade of struggle against the undemocratic restriction of workers' rights and the affirmation of the values of freedom, equality and solidarity, as well as respect and promotion of the dignity of work and social justice", begins by saying the President, in a message released by Belém.

"A life, afterwards, present in all the decisive moves of the transition to democracy and the validity of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, in everything that respected work and workers, as well as the most varied surrounding conditions", he continues, in the same note published on the Presidency of the Republic website.

The decoration for the union union led by Isabel Camarinha was proposed by the Prime Minister, António Costa.
