The Portuguese company Singularity Digital Enterprise (DE) was selected to develop the visualization, modeling and data exploration of the technological-statistical project “Brighter Future", gives José Neves Foundation (FJN). The work of Singularity DE specialists consisted, for example, in the analysis of more than 200 million records from more than 2 different data sources to create the digital library on knowledge, education, employment and skills in Portugal.
More than a database, it is a digital tool that provides credible information about courses / training and employment, relating it to each other. In other words, it presents prospects of employability in association with a given job, through machine learning, with the purpose of creating scientific and personal value for students, workers, bosses, educational institutions and other institutional decision makers.
The project created by the founder and CEO of Farfetch, who donated two thirds of his fortune to this foundation, is a pioneer in Portugal of this nature and involved academic partners, such as Universidade do Minho and the University of Aveiro, as well as the technological consultant AskBlue and the National Statistics Institute.
Dedicated to the development and commercialization of products and services in the areas of data science, AI and machine learning, the Singularity DE team developed its work using methodologies, advanced visualization techniques and design thinking, and simultaneously used data transformation mechanisms supported by from Microsoft.
“In a future that is increasingly more digital and fast, it is crucial to create platforms for sharing relevant information and that are easily accessible to allow citizens to make decisions quickly and informed about their future”, says Carlos Oliveira, executive president of FJN.
The CEO of Singularity DE considered this initiative even more “important” for its contribution to the country's development “We managed to develop the visuals and reports in a very intuitive and user-friendly way that allows users to reach innovative indicators for the labor market in Portugal. I feel that we have contributed to a solution that will positively affect the future of our country, ”said Pedro André Martins, who founded the company in 2016 with Hugo Cartaxeiro, both former Microsoft employees.
In practice, there were: more than 50 GB of data, 200 different analysis graphs, 100 pages of information exploration, 400 analysis indicators and 70 information tables.
