The main Portuguese stock index started this Thursday to trade on the green. The PSI 20 adds 0,57% to 5.098,42 points, in line with the main European markets. Lisbon recovers after the crash in Wednesday's session.
Among the main European counterparts, the German DAX gains 0,74%, the British FTSE increases 0,39%, the French CAC 40 adds 0,65% and the Spanish IBEX advances 0,74%. Investors are optimistic, influenced by Wall Street trading that closed Wednesday's session with a significant gain, the biggest in 84 years. On Wednesday, Joe Biden was sworn in as president of the United States, who had already promised a $ 1,9 trillion economic stimulus package.
In the Portuguese square, PSI 20 trades upwards driven by 12 listed companies, although five trade downwards and one does not show variation. The energy sector is the most evident.
EDP Renováveis gains 1,68%, to 24,15 euros, and EDP adds 0,75%, to 5,340 euros.
Banco Comercial Português, one of the national heavyweights, rose 0,82% to 0,12 euros.
The oil market trades in the red, with the weakening of the dollar, the currency that dominates trading, raising concerns about demand in the short term. Brent, which is traded in London and is a reference for Portugal, falls 0,57%, to 55,75 dollars. In New York, the WTI loses 0,66%, to $ 52,96.
In the foreign exchange market, the euro appreciated 0,13% against the dollar, to $ 1,211. In relation to the pound, the euro zone currency depreciates 0,25%, to 0,884 pounds. The British currency appreciates 0,40% against the dollar, to $ 1,370.
