In addition to the closure of schools at all levels of education for the next fifteen days, Prime Minister António Costa announced this Thursday, and at the level of public services, the closure of citizen stores and the suspension of deadlines for all non-urgent legal proceedings, also with a period of a fortnight. Measures take effect this Friday.
Thus, and in relation to public services, the head of Government announced that "service by appointment in other services" will remain in operation.
The Prime Minister announced today the closure of schools and universities from tomorrow, Friday, January 22.
“Despite all the efforts that schools have made to prepare and function normally in the face of this new strain and the speed it carries, the precautionary principle requires that we interrupt all teaching activities during the next 15 days” , said António Costa this Thursday.
Portugal today reached a new record of fatalities: 221 deaths in the last 24 hours, a total of 9.686 in 10 months of the pandemic. The number of cases rose from 13.544 to 595.149, according to DGS data.
