Spanish Equality Minister Irene Montero publicly joined the # VermelhoEmBelém solidarity movement through the social network Twitter, supporting the Left Block candidate Marisa Matias.
With red lipstick in hand on a photo published on Twitter, Irene Montero writes that “after all, what bothers is that women occupy public space without asking for permission”. “Strength Marisa Matias. Long live the struggle of women ”, reads in the publication.
In response to Chega's candidate, André Ventura, who said that the red lipstick used by Marisa Matias was “as if it were a joke”. “You made up like a doll. You talk like a girl. You are hysterical ”, writes Irene Montero in the tweet, appealing to the # VermelhoEmBelém movement.
“Make up like a girl”, “speak like a girl”, “you are a hysteric”, “you are there by accostarte con tu novio”. In the end what bothers us is that women occupy the public space without asking permission. Adelante @mmatias_. May the lucha de las mujeres #RedInBelem pic.twitter.com/sQUukeHx73

In addition to Irene Montero, many Spanish personalities were known to speak out, such as Pilar del Rio and Maria Victoria Rosell Aguilar, delegate of the Spanish government against Gender Violence. With a red lipstick on his lips, José Saramago's widow called for men and women to paint their lips in solidarity and as a sign of freedom of expression. “We demand freedom, solidarity, respect, a way of being in life where the little one matters and builds”.
“Recalling the poem: side by side we are much more than two, Marisa”, reads on Pilar del Rio's Twitter.
In turn, and without any major demonstrations, the delegate against Gender Violence of the Spanish government wrote only "here we are", also showing herself with red lipstick. In response to Pilar del Rio, Maria Victoria Rosell Aguilar published a photograph in support of the solidarity movement.
Recall that the movement # VermelhoEmBelém entered the presidential campaign after André Ventura had given insults to the other candidates. "Marisa Matias is not very well in terms of image, with that red lipstick, as if it were a joke thing," said André Ventura in a campaign action in Portalegre.
