The future of the pension fund for lawyers and solicitors begins to be decided this Friday in Parliament. The deputies, within the scope of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees, have heard both the President of the Bar Association (OA), Luís Menezes Leitão, and the Order of Solicitors and Enforcement Agents, José Carlos Resende, as well as the leaders of the main associations of young lawyers.
To the Jornal Económico (JE), the president of OA said that he received “dozens” of complaints from lawyers who are being improperly registered with Social Security, at a time when the parties are discussing whether the Caixa de Previdência dos Advogados e Solicitadores ( CPAS) will be integrated into the general Social Security regime. “And I am convinced that we no longer have it because people do not see their Direct Social Security because they are not registered there. When someone goes there, they discover that they have fixed contributions, ”said Menezes Leitão.
